Common Wealth Development Fundraising Videos
Established in 1979, Common Wealth Development (CWD) has quietly and actively served the Madison community for many years. Due to their extensive service offerings and lengthy history, they were having trouble communicating the scope and significance of their work in concise, effective terms to funders. We perused and documented their archives before conducting interviews with staff and CWD beneficiaries for a fuller understanding of their story. It all came down to their guiding principle of nurturing "a seed called community" and staying true to those foundations while persistently responding to the evolving needs of the community. We determined that the best way to amplify their message was to produce a 5-part series that celebrates their history, delineates their 3 primary service divisions, and communicates the philosophy that guides all of their work. Instead of using a scripted approach, we featured the authenticity and commitment of the CWD team through their collective storytelling, highlighting their comprehensive approach to developing an interconnected ecosystem of services. Each of the five videos in the series was created to work both independently and as a playlist component. For the annual Big Share event, we also produced a three-minute short with the flexibility to be utilized for various fundraising initiatives. The final products were developed, directed, filmed, and edited by Half Cup Studio.
